Surf Expo-Volcom "Acid Drop"Mini Ramp Contest 2007

This contest was insane..The riders did 3 runs in all.
The 1st was a skate "till you fall" run...
The 2nd was an "all out balls to the wall" ramp jam fora full 20 minutes!!
Everyone was skating at once..You had to be there to believe how crazy it was..I cant describe how close they all came to full on collisions but surprisingly this didnt happen.Check this movie(More movies added Below..Scroll down) for an example.
And to decide the contest the riders had to do a 3rd 1 minute run.At this stage ,everyone was worn out from the 20 minute jam but Rune Glifberg managed to muster up the strength to land a 540 Mc Twist off the crazy trapezoid like extension(with no pads whatsoever). He tried and failed it 3 times in all and still managed to "run it out".I have no idea how you run out of a 540 air but he somehow managed it .Then on his last try he landed it perfectly..At that, the crowd went crazy...But even this was not enough to secure Rune a first place.
Florida was well represented by Tim Johnson and Mike Peterson..Tim was doing 6 foot frontside stalefish airs everywhere and I think he deserved a better result than tenth.Mike skated awesome too.
Overall everyone in the finals were so rad ,I dont know how the judges decided on a winner at all.
Here are the results of the contest..

Scum Alert...My "Skaterbuilt" board Stolen

I cant fucking believe it..My board was stolen from my shed(in my back yard)while I was away for Christmas. There are a bunch of other Skateboard decks, wheels and Trucks in the shed but the Skaterbuilt was the only board actually fully assembled,so I assume thats why they took it...
So keep a look out for it ...It should be easily spotted as it is very distinct and also alot bigger than the average rig your local grom rides..This board is 10" x 34.5" with a 17.5" wheelbase ,(which is even big by my standards)..

It Is the Black "Skater Cult II" model deck with a formica bottom. It also has a custom grip tape job...The tape is cut in oval patches and applied randomly on the top of the deck.

Complete with Indy 215 trucks that have aftermarket yellow Khiro bushings.
Angled riser pads and Skaterbuilt white 63mm wheels..

Note:This is the only photo I have of it at the moment..The wheels in the above photo are not the same as the ones the board had on it when it was stolen...It had these
wheels...

Here's a better view of the deck shape as you cant really see the bottom right corner of it in my photo..

If anyone sees this around in any of the skateparks let me know immediately..
There will be a reward for any info leading to its recovery

Springfield ,Illinois

I was out of town for Christmas and got to skate this park 3 times...It is a perfect example of an unsupervised skatepark..No helmet or pads required,Free Entry,No lights at night time and no one to clean up the trash the local winos leave behind every night...
This park is only 2 1/2 years old and is completely covered in (really shitty)graffitti already..
Check the photos from Concrete disciples and then compare mine...

On a positive note ..This park is a great park and I had a few really fast lines worked out in no time at all, that incorporated every wall in the Skatepark...Also there seems to be nobody skating it at all..The most skaters I saw in the whole week, was about 5 at one time, and only 2 of them were actually skating the bowl. The others skated the small street area only.It seems there are alot of flip freaks and stair jumpers in the area ..
The deep end is really deep and steep though..I got a few frontside grinds on the big vert extension and that soon woke the few locals up..Amazingly they had never seen anyone get that high in the deep end!
If your in the area ..Give it a try its worth a trip.

Oh Yeah..I was on my own most of the time (good)but had nobody to take any photos of me skating (pity)!!

Just In....Awesome Pro Photos of Matt "Killing it "at last wednesdays session...
