I've just been informed by "Skate Czar" Marshall Presnell of The Cocoa Beach surf Company that they are having a huge sale on all their skate decks.

Starting on the morning of Wednesday December 5th, until closing on Tuesday the 11th 2007 all decks will be discounted by 25%..That is a great saving, and just in time for
Christmas too..
Also they will be giving 15% off custom completes...with an extra 10% off the deck during the sale.

They have a very good selection of diverse types of Skate Decks, not just popsicles like your average skate shop.

Trip to the Solar Bowl...

I'm just back from a trip to a bowl you will never find....

Its an invite only, 8' birch masterpiece with a 10' vert extension and gnarly roll-in platform. And to make it even better ,the whole thing is covered with a dome shaped metal building that uses Solar power..How Awesome is that?

The directions simply read.....Drive out into the middle of the boondocks in Florida and turn right at a huge big pile of horse shite!
And they werent joking either.. SO we did!
Dan,Scott and Andy check to see if were on the right track

Amazingly we found the place pretty easily!

I had great intentions of taking lots of photos and documenting the trip really well, but I skated so much on the day, that this is pretty much all I have to show for it..Hopefully some of the other guys got some good footage.

We skated with our host Don for a few hours before the Atlantic Beach crew arrived followed shortly by Mike Barnes and Jo(JOhio )Marrero. The session was officially on ..We ended up skating solidly from about 11am until 4pm..I dont know about the other guys but, thats definitely a record for me!

We did have a few casualties though ..Shortly after we arrived ,Scott took a bad fall while "Rolling in" on the roll-in platform and crashed really hard into the opposite wall.He was completely knocked out and probably still doesnt remember how he got out of the bowl.
That was a rude awakening for the rest of us..But props to Scott ,after a short rest he got back up and took a few more runs.Andy also took a spill and tweaked his wrist.

About noon time the "PBR's" were flowing and the session got gnarlier real fast.Mainly due to the skating of Mike Barnes and Joe Marrerro.

We also cranked up the BBQ grill and cooked up a bunch of Bubba Burgers and chicken legs, washed down with PBR's..They tasted great.

Overall it was a great day and we all parted company promising to do this again sometime real soon...Thanks go to our Host Don who at 44 years young ,absolutely kills his bowl, and on a 40" board no less!
Don, Thanks for having us!

Here's some video footage that was taken with my camera during the day..

We Will Be Back!

If anyone else has any additional footage or comments to add ..Dont be shy..

New Melbourne skatepark is now open

"The Park" as its called is now open for business.
It costs $8 per 4 hour session and from all the reports I've heard ,It is very fast and alot of fun.
Its an indoor park, which is just what we need for those long periods of rain.
It features a "street" area and a 100'long snake shaped bowl ,which varies in height frm 4' to 5' and also has a wall ride incorporated into it.
By all accounts its another "Team Pain" masterpiece.
PJ spoke with the Owner yesterday and she is interested in dedicating a specific night for us older skaters. She was kind enough to offer to close the park down to all other skaters on that night, but obviously she would need some committment from us in order to do this.So we need to decide on a night(other than Wednesday)..Lets hear it! Who's in?

Here are some photos from the crews recent visit to "the park" earlier this week....

Its all relative....Nice story

A middle-aged businessman decided he needed some rest and relaxation. He was stressed over work, his family and life in general. He wound up visiting a small coastal village in Mexico. After a turbulent night’s sleep, he woke up and decided to take a stroll through the main street. As he was walking, his eyes spotted a craftsman at work in his woodshop. The man was making beautiful skateboard decks.

“How long does it take you to make one of your decks?” inquired the businessman.

“Not that long; I can usually make two or three a day,” replied the craftsman.

“Why don’t you make more?” asked the businessman.

“I make enough to support my family and give a few to friends,” said the craftsman as he carefully sanded the wood.

“But…What do you do with the rest of your time?”
The craftsman looked up and smiled. “I sleep late, skate, play with my children, take an afternoon siesta with my wife and stroll in the village each evening, where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos. I have a full and busy life, señor.”

The businessman laughed and shrugged his shoulders. “Sir, I graduated from Harvard with an M.B.A., and I can help you. You should spend more time working on these beautiful skateboards, and with the proceeds, hire more people. In no time, you could buy some serious equipment and fully automate your production. Eventually, you would be able to produce thousands of boards a month.”

The businessman continued, “Instead of selling only a few boards, you would set up a distribution center and ship all over the world. You would control the product and processing. You would need to leave this village, of course, and move to Mexico City, then to Los Angeles, and eventually New York City, where you would run your thriving business with proper management.

The Mexican craftsman asked, “But, señor, how long will all this take?”

The businessman replied, “Oh, probably 15 to 20 years, maybe – 25 tops.”

“But then what, señor?”

The businessman laughed and said, “That’s the best part. When the time is right, you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You would then make millions!”

“Millions, señor? Then what?”

“Then you would retire and move to a small coastal village where you sleep late, skate, play with your children, take an afternoon siesta with your wife and stroll in the village each evening, sip wine and play guitar with your amigos.”
