We had a great "Old Dudes" session last night!

M.R. provided the sounds and held the customary few raffles..
He gave away some t-shirts from the OSP "King Of Crete", a Skate dvd and a Rebel skates Deck. Thanks for doing that Mike.As usual Dave Simmons won the deck ...again!(thats his 5th in a month!)
We also had a couple of new faces, namely JR from Indialantic and Steve from Vero Beach... Basically everyone was shredding last night.
Thanks to PJ for coming out and documenting the whole night..
Here's the photos

Photos and Movies from the trip-Our 1st Stop: Naples Skatepark

Gar Attacks the Pool @ Naples

Naples Pool Session

Movie 1-Kelly @ Naples

Movie 2-Kelly @ Naples

Movie 3 -Gar @ Naples

Movie 4- Matt @ Naples

Thats all I have for now..The other guys all took lots of footage too ,so I will post that when I get it from them..I had some camera problems at Naples and as a result the footage from the flow area didnt come out at all..

Info about Naples Skatepark:
It costs $10 to skate...$10 per year that it!!Yes you sign a waiver and pay up and your good to go for a whole year...Unbelievable but true..

The park is excellent in my opinion.. It consists of a concrete pool, a large flow area and a mini concrete snake run..It also has a bunch of modular 1/2 pipes, launch ramps and ledges for the flippy crowd....

Verdict: 10 out of 10 and definitely worth the trip.

Im Just Back from a 3 day Florida Skate Tour...

The Crew camped in Kona Skatepark...

The Trip...
We left from Central Florida en route to Naples friday morning and arrived just in time for opening at 5pm... We were all psyched because none of us had ever been to Naples Skatpark so we skated there for approx. 4-5 hours that first night..(That was pretty rad in itself, considering that the average age of this crew was 42!)
Everyone was killing it in the flow area and the pool..But we eventually called it a night and decided to split.
Later (read:much later-as we got slightly lost on Marco island in the pitch dark!)we parked the RV at the local KOA and had some well earned beers and some dinner then hit the sack for the night so we could skate Naples again saturday morning..
Next Stop was Northport Skatepark which is approximately 80 miles north of Naples..We hit that park for about 2 hours and had alot of fun but our session was cut short when we saw the beginnings of a Christmas parade start to form right where we had the RV parked..The cops were already starting to close the street down so we promptly fled the skatepark and insisted that the cops guide us out before the parade started...We were lucky..but we got out and headed for Sarasota...That was about a half hour drive..
We skated Sarasota for a couple of hours until extreme hunger and the cold got the better of us....So we decided to split and get some food and also discuss how we were going to make it to Jacksonville that night!Check a map its a long way!!
We worked it out to be about 26o miles and decided to just "go for it" and try and get as close to Kona skatepark as possible that night...
Matt(our RV owning, driver) is a seasoned road warrior and insisted in doing the trip in one shot!...We did a bit of "ass hauling" across the state and eventually we rolled into Kona Skatepark about 1.30am and parked the rv in the field about 10 ft from the ramps...

to be continued....

I helped Build this over the past few days...

This is the official GFL mini ramp ,and will be used at Demos and GFL Events in the future.

The photos show some of the sections prior to being joined together..Of course my camera batteries died after the third photo...
The ramp will be 24 ft wide in total, with 16 ft of 5ft high and 8 ft of 8ft high section..Should be sick when we get the masonite on it tomorrow..
Props to Ed from Mindless Surfboards who worked throught the night to get this finished.(I quit at 10pm!)
More to come over the weekend.

On the Topic of Skateboard Magazines

My Favorite Skateboard Magazines at the moment are Juice,Concussion and Concrete Wave.. They are probably the most relevant to the older skater.
"Juice" is awesome and is exactly what Thrasher started out as 25 years ago..
Unfortunately Thrasher is just a catalog of ads nowadays for tight jeans and shoes with absolutely no content to it whatsoever.I went out and subscribed to it a few months ago and I've gotta say its a piece of shit so far..
Concussion is core pool skating magazine and absolutely rocks...And Concrete wave is cool too.If you dont already get these magazines ,you should ..Check the links above..
Are there any other Skate Mags out there that are worth checking out?

The latest Concrete Wave has just come out

Im waiting on the mailman right now!

There was alot of Grindage last night..

Sammy Barker f/s grind in the pool.

As Bob Umbel said Victor Perez showed up and killed the pool.He was a pro skater back in the late 70's /early eighties and skated for Santa Cruz..At 47 years old he still skates like a wildman.. There was a huge turnout of over 30 y/o skaters this week.It seems we have some momentum going right now,so lets keep it up..PJ your absence has been noted!
I didnt take any photos last night so I have snagged some of "Vertseven's" shots from the 2nd light messageboard..
